I grew up on Skye before leaving to find work, travel, and eventually find my way into a marine science degree in Oban. I learned a lot about the oceans - particularly about how they have been exploited and how polluted they are. I graduated and went straight into a PhD program which took me up into the Arctic. I studied melting ice and warming seas for three and a half years and it eventually took a toll on my mental health and I had to withdraw from the program.<\/p>
I now make pottery, create art, work in whatever comes my way and I have started this company because I believe that we need to change the way we use resources and make products. I thought I would start with Skye as it is where I am from, and it is an iconic, beautiful place. I believe that merchandise around the tourism industry creates a lot of unnecessary waste, and if I can replace any plastic t-shirt, keepsake or memorabilia with a sustainable and responsibly sourced item then we are going in the right direction.<\/p>
All our products are produced by Teemill, and they are all made to order so there is no speculative oversupply of goods that will one day be thrown to landfill. All the items are produced in the UK using state of the art technology in factories that are powered by renewable energy and which reclaim water. Each garment has a QR code attached and can be sent back to the factory to be remilled into new clothes.
